Rock Band Stimulates GC Film Production

Media Release
1 April 2011

Village Roadshow Studios, Gold Coast is very excited, honoured and pleased to announce an upcoming film production which will be making with U2 Band.

Oscar Wilde, the Spokesperson of Village Roadshow Studio announced the film budget is a total of $200 million dollars which is the largest ever undertaken.

“I am really excited about this production. It is a great boost for the film industry on the coast.

“I am so thrilled to have U2 giving us such a vote of confidence in our production facilities,” Mr Wilde said.

The file is being produced by Mel Gibson and directed by James Cameron in January 2012, and will finish in December 2012.

Mr Wilde mentioned that Griffith University Students on the Gold Coast are invited to be filming as audience in one scene of U2’s sell-out 360 concerts last year.

During this filming, 200 or more people will be employed, and the segment will be on sealed off section of Surfers Paradise beach during mid-year academic break.

U2 agreed the filming after Mr Wilde met with band management in Los Angeles in October last year, and the meeting was arranged by the representative of Queensland Government, Peter Beattie.
